  • 1-How did your interest for computers start? Which year was that?

  • Mine started when I got a Texas Instruments TI 99/4A back in 1982 and
I never looked as game consoles again. I got my first PC in 1983 - a
Compaq 'portable' for $3000 that used an 8088 processor at less than
    5 mhz, 640k of ram, and I paid $500 for the 2nd 5.25 floppy.
Hard drives were not an option yet. I first got 'online' on a C= 64 with
a 300 baud modem using the Quantum Link (Q-Link) service that became AOL.
Through this I had my first experience on the internet using a sysem called
Delphi, which used ASCII text and UNIX commands.

  • 2-What machines did you previously have? What did you do with them?

  • TI 99/4A, Compaq Portable 8088, Laser 128 Apple II clone, several C= 64's and
a C= 128 several early PC clones from 25 mhz to DX2/50 to 133 mhz and beyond!
I still have the Compaq in a closet somewhere, and still have several of the C=
    machines.

  • 3-For what specific reason did you end up making music rather than gfx, coding?

  • Several family members are/were in the music business. My dad was the lead guitarist
for Bill Haley and the Comets, and my sister has her own cd out.

  • 4-Which composing programs have you been using? Which one in particular?

  • I can't say enough in praise for Screamtracker in all it's versions, and
in the same breath I would have to heap praise on Future Crew for just
about all of their works, from their amazing demos to their software!
Screamtracker3 was the one that opened a lot of doors for me.

  • 5-With which module did you feel you had reached your goal?

  • I have several - Demonic Sensation was something I felt was at
my limits for a 4 track song. It is also the one song that I had
the most 'fun' with. The Mystique Trilogy came together nicely
and moved me into the 10-14 track range.

  • 6-Is there a tune you would like not to remember? For what reason?

  • Vortex. It was one of my early mods from 1993 and it always seemed
like it did not 'gel' correctly

  • 7-In your opinion, what's the value of a music in a demo, game?

  • It set's the entire mood/feel for the game. Imagine some of the great
demos or games such as 2nd Reality by Future Crew or Final Fantasy 8 set to the music
    from Popeye!

  • 8-At present, are you still composing? For professional or leisure purposes?

  • I still do things for personal enjoyment but I have not 'released' anything
online for others in a long time.

  • 9-What do you think of today's pieces of music such as mpeg,wave,midi,etc...?

  • Wav and mp3 are not much different than a direct recording to casette or vinyl.
Midi is a bit closer to what we did with mods but it is still a completely
different animal altogether. For me, watching a mod unfold in a tracker was like
watching the pins strike notes on a music box. Beautiful!

  • 10-Could you tell us some of your all times favourite tunes?

  • Some of my favourite's as far as MODS would have to include 2nd Reality,
which is an example of what all of us mod makers were trying to aspire to,
and my own Demonic Sensation just because I had fun with it and it has a good
    beat.

  • 11-Are you planning to make an audio cd with some of your music remastered?

  • Some of the songs have been in computer cd MOD compendeums, a pair of them were
    used in the game 'Uplink'

  • 12-What bands are you currently listenning to?

  • I'm currently listening to my wife's taste in music - John Legend, Joss Stone, etc
I still have favourites I listen to such as Sister's of Mercy, Kraftwerk, Scorpions, Enigma
    and, oddly enough, Yanni!

  • 13-What does/did the amiga/c64 scene give you?

  • It gave a feeling of friendship and camaraderie that lasts to this day.
Some of my closest friends are people I met in that scene. We had a lot of good times,
'copy parties' and bbq's, etc. I have socialized more with people I met from the
computer scene than with people I have met out in the 'real' world.

  • 14-Are you still active in the scene these days?

  • No, though some of my work was included in things like the 2001 game 'Uplink'

  • 15-Anyone to greet? Anything left to say? Feel free...

  • I'd like to say hi to Dan aka Basehead, Dr Harry from Harry's Asylum, and to all
the oldtimer's still making music! I would have to send shouts out the other old Gothic & Acid
members and to Future Crew as well! Thanks for listening!
